I have never heard reference to this building until today, does anyone have a trades directory or similar that may indicate who was located here ? Many thanks in advance.

Leodis has a 1937 picture of it showing the businesses in it then:http://www.leodis.org/display.aspx?reso ... 768435just up from the tribunals Service where I work.We are at number 31 which was rebuilt.

In 1916 the following were occupants Brayshaw Charles, woollen merJowett Oliver A. &Co.,woollen mfs

Thanks everyone, my company bought the building last week so we are trying to find out a little about its history, I shall propose a "Secret Leeds" sticker for the window !

It appears Frederick Baines part of the Leeds Mercury etc publishing family had his office or home at 4 York Place.This is from The Leeds Mercury April 28th 1838
