I like the "tapestry" feel of Ginner's paintings.Whilst looking for more Ginner paintings on Google, I came across this image of Leeds Market (painted c.1913) by Harold Gilman (1876-1919.)

I've been looking online for references to Atkinson Grimshaw. Recently, I came across a gem of a site which displays 24 of his works along with thousands of others by artists too numerous to list. For anyone interested try this link; http://www.the-athenaeum.org/art/JD

Just searched and found this again thanks LHippo. Good one, some of the Turners are a revelation, there's a good big book of Turner's Leeds.Trying to work out that painting of Gledhow Hall...And where now is his view point for Beeston Hill?Another recent/current Leeds Artist who's work is nice (more water coloured pencil drawings than 'paintings') is Allan Radcliffe. I have his New Briggate, Town Hall and Parish Church. Missed his Corn Ex which I'd resolved to buy the very next day from Mind Shop Headingley. That always happens.

I was recently shown these four prints by a friend who is struggling to find any information regarding them. They each measure approx. 10" x 8" and appear to be taken from paintings but I cannot be sure.I am unable to make out the artist's signature/initials and I don't know the year they were produced. All I can say is that the subject matter is fairly obvious. Can anyone help me shed any light on them? http://www.flickr.com/photos/biglightson/sets

Leo, they do have a look of Peter Lapish and he may well be the artist. However, in the bottom left corner of the Headrow scene are three initials and I think they look like " JKS". They don't appear on the other 3 prints though.Jim, you mentioning the street salesman began to ring a distant bell in my memory. I too, seem to recall a chap selling them but but can't for the life of me remember anything about his pictures nor when it was. Can you bring to mind roughly how long you've had your set?
