Through raveydavey's post in the 'Leeds Lost Pubs - Part 2' thread on 21-Jan-2014 20:31:40 I looked around a map that was brought up through the link to the sale of The Gate pub. On the map I noticed some streams marked and wondered if there is anything known about them. One starts at Kentmere Avenue and is very short. Does it just dry up or is it covered and probably runs into Wyke Beck? One starts at Asket Crescent but very soon ends then appears again before draining into Wyke Beck.Running next to Easterly Road there is a long stream that can be traced back to a sudden start at the Ring Road. Being a long stream I wonder if it has a name?I have attached a Google Map that shows the area with the streams.

At least part of your question is answered on this old thread - www.secretleeds.com/forum/Messages.aspx ... #32879It's quite a long thread, but it covers a lot of history and geography of the area.

The Asket Crescent water course is the stream called The Rein. These old Seacroft streams have been covered in depth on S.L in the past Leo.The trouble is they've been split up into various threads all over the place. I'm not entirely sure things are very clear, or anything was really solved like that. Anyway a bit of info should be here for startershttp://www.secretleeds.com/forum/Messages.aspx ... The Asket Crescent stream was blocked on purpose in the late 70's. Damned to flood the grassed circle and turn it into an artificial lake. It lasted for weeks. In fact it only got cleared when the water got so deep it started to flood the nearby houses. There were big industrial tractor tyres on it (no idea where they came from)But they made for great improvised dinghy's
