The Old Park Ellerby Road Leeds 9

Does anyone on here know how old the old park is adjacent to The Cavalier pub and St Saviors Church in Leeds 9. I played here as a child in the 50's we used to sledge down the hills at the side of the pub and into to park. It is now a skate park.

If you look at this photo full size herehttp://tinyurl.com/o86ywtkIt shows war time prefabs were built on that land in 1951. We could do with some old maps to see if it was a recreation ground before this era really.

Looking at the old maps it shows the rec was just to the left of those prefabs.The recreation ground is marked on maps as far back as 1893 that I can see.1893 map.I think the rec can be seen on this full size photo herehttp://tinyurl.com/nnrpex8(Very top left of the photo)Although it doesn't look up to much really, just the odd path running through it?

I wonder if this park might be the area my dad called Prospect Hollow?(As referred to in his account of the bombing of Richmond Hill Elementary School.during WW 2 featured in the "Oldest in Leeds" section, "Bomb Damage" thread.)

The prefabs were above the park to the right going onto upper accommodation Road/Dial Street.The old park is still there. The front of this park is on Bow Street leading to East Street so I think somebody is getting a bit confused by the old map. But the park which is shown on the map is the old park, so how old is that map?

I have just found an old map of "The Bank 1850" - inside my late uncle's possessions. It looks like Where The old Park as it has always been known must have been part of the grounds to a large dwelling "Ingram Hall" which is still standing on this map, I will try and upload the map to this site tomorrow.

Right just got this artists impression of Ingrams Hall as it was from Maylass. And she says it appears "The Bank" that Ingram's Hall stood was in the actual Park adjacent to the Spitalfields looking at the old map she has. I'll upload the map if it comes through too.

Fascinating stuff.I wonder if Percy Robinson named on the left is the same person that was the architect of what is now the Yorkshire Building Society building at the junction of Briggate and Duncan Street (see my SL thread of Feb 1 2012:- http://www.secretleeds.com/forum/Messag ... eadID=3664).
