Just trying to find out info on hunters greave scout camp, it seems as though its been abandoned for years. Does anybody know how old it is,have any stories, or who owns it? LCC? There isnt much info on the web. For those who arent familiar with the place its situated between bramley and horsforth and the entrance is opposite the abbey inn.

thanks dalehelms the place looks so run down these days, i stayed there in the early nineties when it was better looked after. I dont think id stay there now esp in the buildings but the lawn is well kept i guess. I saw a dog walking company on the lawn yesterday with about 10 dogs thats my main reason for suggesting it was closed down. Has anyone any idea how old it is? my guess is 1980's but thats not an educated one

The Hunters Greave scout camp will soon find itself next door to the new Newlay Station when the Kirkstall Forge housing development progresses, wouldnt surprise me if the Scouts dont sell it off as the place is already starting to lose its illusion of being a rural retreat with the development of the flats behind the Abbey Inn with more flats to come.

Not much further down the line although the link from here http://www.kirkstallforge.com/amenities/where.html to google gives an LS5 postcode and Hunter's Greave is LS13. The Kirkstall forge website is also linked on this Metro page https://www.wymetro.com/news/projects/p ... forgerail/ which appears to have been updated this month

Not sure of the current details but the developers at Kirkstall Forge were supposed to be footing the bill including the site cleanup as part of the development deal. CEG would appear to be the people who took the place on in 2010 and who I *think* got an undertaking from Metro to get some public money, which would probably lead to a more inclusive name, and Kirkstall Forge and Newlay would make sense.
