"If the £250m scheme comes through the process unscathed, construction work will start on its nine-mile north-to-south network in 2017 or 2018."Since when was a single line a 'network'?

In your short sentence there Cardiarms you have completely and accurately summed up the ludicrous farce !! All these uninformed supporters of the scheme are under the magical illusion that this LINE, not network, will miraculously speed up public transport in the City and bring investment, jobs etc galore. It will do nothing of the kind and will be the most unbelievably expensive gaff in the the history of public transport - there will be red faces and consultant generated "spin" everywhere when it becomes apparent that the infernal things are simply clogging up the already disastrous Woodhouse Lane Headingley Lane/Otley Road corridor on the many long and common sections.Slightly different I know, but another recent farce at Goodness knows what continual expense can be seen on the 72 route to Bradford. A century of perfectly reliable service with double deckers, latterly every ten minutes one person operated basically, has been replaced by the ludicrous, every seven minutes, two person operated "purple slugs" which can often be seen in lightly loaded pairs blocking up the City expensively boasting that they are "Hyperlink." As I've written many times before, I despair and I do despair - although I'm by no means an "anti progess Luddite."
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

Received a letter from DfT today acknowledging the public enquiry which would take place in the future.Asked if I wanted to give oral evidence at any enquiry. Was just thinking that if everybody did,it would take an inordinate amount of time to hold the enquiry.Either way,my letter would be considered as part of the process.Wondered if anybody else has got theirs yet ?

much better if people give oral evidence as harder to ignore.Oral backed by facts and figures has more impact.

There is an interesting article relating to the full impact of the proposed trolleybus scheme on page 4 of the Yorkshire Evening Post (YEP) today (November 29 2013) and also a little bit on the front page. The following is a link to the YEP online version of the article:- http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... -1-6282909

Good News about the public inquiry, about time James Lewis is brought back to ground from his ego trip. I notice the North West Leeds MP Greg Mulholland has changed his mind about the NGT, and is no longer in favour of the scheme, and has spoken to the Transport Minister about it. Even if the NGT does go ahead (which I hope it does not), there is no need to remove all the trees as suggested, James Lewis is famous for quoting about Trolley buses in Europe, he never observed the overhead on Europe for both Trolley Busses or trams, as they do not take down all the trees for the overhead they work around the trees, lopping a few branches that are in the way. Also over in Europe all the transport vehicles whether they are buses, trams, or trolley buses use the same stops, that it is what they call an integrated transport system.

An astoundingly biased piece on the BBC Leeds website about the follybus:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-25142801It seems that anyone who expects impartiality from the BBC should look elsewhere. The piece reads like a Metro press release, repeating to "no pollution" lie amongst the usual flannel and with not a single mention of the objections against the scheme. On a lighter note, I've received a letter from the Department of Transport regarding the public enquiry asking if I'd like to give oral evidence. Slightly worryingly it refers to a previous letter that I haven't received, but I think I might quite fancy a day at the enquiry to say my piece. Is anyone else going?
