2reports in the YEP tonight refer to contacting WYP viatelephone no 101,this apparently replaces 0846 060606.First time that I had heard about it,don't think this is widely known.From their website :-How to contact West Yorkshire PoliceThere are several telephone numbers that you can use to contact West Yorkshire Police: Dial 101 for any non-emergencies or to report a crime. 101 has replaced the 0845 non-emergency number. Deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired people can use textphone 18001 101 Always call 999 in an emergency where there is a danger to life, or a crime in progress Contact your local Neighbourhood Policing Team to speak to a local officer about community issues. Visit www.askthepolice.co.uk where you can find the answer to a wide range of frequently asked questions.

The coming og 101 was announcef some time ago - so long, I'd forgotten about it!A reason for the change was I believe to reduce the calling costs when using a non-inclusive mobile phone (0845 calls can be pricey) - though cynically you have might also wonder if reducing complaints about the cost of 'holding' might also come into it
