A ‘Making A Stand’ sculpture forest was recently unveiled in City Square, Leeds. It is said to have 127 seven-metre-high timber fins (I did not count them!) and was created by visual artist Michael Pinsky and award-winning environmental architects Studio Bark. It is one of 12 projects that are part of LEEDS 2023 and is said to be inspired by the city’s origins as a forested area called Leodis over a thousand years ago. I have attached 3 photos that I took on June 27 2023.
Whether the feature is liked or disliked will depend on people’s personal feeling but at least the pigeons seem to like to use the trunks as perches.

A rainbow is a ribbon that Nature puts on when she washes her hair.
It's a bit early to be collecting wood for bonfire night isn't it?
It used to be said that the statue of the Black Prince had been placed in City Square , near the station, pointing South to tell all the southerners who've just got off the train to b****r off back down south!
I hope I haven’t paid for this nonsense with my Council Tax.
Bruno, I strongly suspect you are an anonymous patron of the arts. So anonymous they didn't bother to tell you!

Art? It's absolutely hideous! I hope they pull it down today! I don't often criticise our Leeds lefty Council but there are some dimwits on there. (Parking charges at public parks/open spaces. That cockeyed idea got shot down very quickly so should this). Pathetic.
Unfortunately I don't live near Leeds, as they would do well in my wood burning stove
These "fins" are 7m long. You would probably use more energy cutting them down to size than you would get back in heat from your woodburner
On the other hand, I could use them to make some enormous raised beds in the garden.

Its awful isnt it. I work in Wellington Place and was walking past on my lunch with a mate. He wondered what they were building and why there was so much scaffolding. Didn't believe me it was an art installation.
