A Stroll on the Otley Road Run

Post by tyke bhoy »

It wasn't you and your camera 28 years ago was it Leodian? ;) After the recent hiatus mentioned on here Leodis has sprung back to life and on pages 1, 2 and 3 of the recently added are 50 photos from 1988 starting from the Merrion Centre and finishing around Woodies Ale House capturing what is effectively the Otley Road Run. Obviously the photographer didn't visit the pubs or at least didn't partake of alcoholic beverage in many/any of them.

There is at least one mistake which I have pointed out. The narrative on http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... 116_175625 claims the building to the right is part of Brunwick Terrace

I have sent in a correction pointing out that Brunswick Terrace would be behind the Merrion Centre and that the building is now the Premier Inn, has officially been called Hepworth Point but to me was always the Hepworths Building

Hi tyke bhoy :).

They are not from me. They are very interesting and also show how some parts have changed a lot but others are barely altered, if at all.

I did find that the views along Park Row, Cookridge Street and Otley Road viewed in the order they are listed are confusing in that they seem to have been taken while walking backwards!

This is a link to one of the photos that shows part of the old walkway over Park Row that I do recall, but only just! I like the pigeon (?) that has photobombed it ;). http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... SPLAY=FULL
