I took this photo of this Blue Plaque today (July 14 2014). It was a faded blue so it may have been up a while but in any event I don't recall ever seeing it before at a site I pass very often. So where is it?I've done a search of SL for Blue Plaque and this one did not come up so it may be a new W&W, but I apologise if it has been used before or at least mentioned in threads.

I recognised the brickwork, I'm not aware of another building in Leeds quite the same.

Their first office was in Exchange Buildings, Lands Lane, according to the history of the building society. http://www.lloydsbankinggroup.com/Our-G ... g-society/

That was a clever bit of detective work MrTempleDene. Thanks Croggy1 for that link. For a moment I was surprised to see it in the Lloyds Banking Group website until I remembered that the Leeds Permanent Building Society merged with the Halifax Building Society which was later (as HBOS) rescued by Lloyds Bank at the start of the banking crisis. For anyone that is still unsure of the location of the Blue Plaque it is on the wall of W H Smiths at the end of Change Alley where that comes out at Lands Lane.

Got to be honest, I was just lucky I recognised the building. Used to spend many hours exploring the city centre on my way home from school.
