Abbey View / Spen Hall

My son has just taken a flat in a building now named Westbury Gardens, more or less at the end of Queenswood Drive. Looking on Old Maps there is a house called Abbey View which later appears to be called Spen House. I assume it to be the house of a textile magnate or some such but does anyone have any info as to whose house it was?
