My favourite Secret Leeds haunt as a child. Very overgrown and devoid of excellent views now. Some bloke took being a Secret Leedser a bit far http://www.flickr.com/photos/jamesw-bell/9081364026/

There are some good pictures of the folly just before it finally fell down on leodis.

http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... 133typical! - never realized it was a folly until now. Makes sense though all those unrealistic aspirations I had up there as a youngster! All weeded over with no views to the horizon now!

It says that it was demolished in 1946, though I am sure I remember it in the late 80's being there, though I could be confusing with Roundhay Park castle folly...... There were definitely a load of stones there until relatively recently.

In the early 70's I often went up there after school and there were plenty of stones about but no other sign of the folly.

Anyone know? sadly it got removed when they widened the road9i assume you mean the one with the superb well-head in leodis?).I went looking for it back around 2000 but a friend who lives down the road pinpointed the spot as being where the widening happened.Incidentally Tunnel Howe Hill has a ghost of a rather ragged man seen a few times in the 1980's.
