July 3 1936 photo of buildings at Vicar Lane/Headrow

AY=FULLThe photo shows buildings at the junction of Vicar Lane and The Headrow and most of them are still very recognisable today, with a major exception. The premises immediately at the junction are not there now, having been demolished at some stage as the site is now a Barclays Bank. I have wondered when that bank was built, so it cannot have been before July 3 1936.I like the 'My Goodness My Guinness' advert.

Love those old signs Phill. I wonder what happened if 76 or more tried to enter the air raid shelter! I particularly like the 'Beasley's Crate Beers As Bright As The Sun' and the 'Comet Ale In Bottle Pure Brilliant Reviving'.
