Don't answer by replying to this question.Just think where you think it is, and we shall see laterAdel Dam was built in the 1760's as part of a waterpower system for Adel Corn Mill.Today people can walk round it as a leisure activity and I did just that leaving Cookridge, going through the golf course and down past Pauls pond through the woods under the Leeds-Otley road and then did a circuit of Adel Dam.Picture the circuit of the water and the dam in your head.Have you been round it and know where it is?? If so then watch this space!!

So, Is there really a pub named The Adel Dam? in Leeds or was this just to set up a meeting at some local pub between the two folk above? I'm confused... ha, nothing new there then. The corn mill and water circuit info was interesting is it true? I know of Adel as a place and Adel dam to me is an RSPB nature reserve... Is it still there? I left leeds long ago but remain close to it whereever I am in the world.Anon- 'the mouse'

Intriguing. I shall hazard a guess that it may be mislocated on a map, such as the Outer Ring Road at Moortown was labelled Beeston for a long time on Google Maps though it seems to be correctly labelled now. Hmmm, Adel, damn I ought to know where it is!

Are you talking here about a pub named 'The Adel Dam' or a mill race? I'm lost. But my question is whatever it is you are trying to find the location of - is it not in Adel? If it is not in Adel now then it cant be so far away can it? Where was the cornmill of the 1700s? presumably it is there. mill race or pub? - I dont know the area.Anon the mouse.

Well today I found out that the dam and the body of water in golden acre park is not Adel Dam.The water certainly feeds on to Adel Corn Mill which is on the left after Adel church as you drop down the hill.I've lived around here most of my life and took a big interest in the history but until today I'd never seen Adel Dam!It may be just me, I wondered if anyone else had made the same mistake?

Parksider Possibly due to being a twitcher since 60's I've always known it as Adel Dam Nature Reserve & 'Golden Acre Park Lake'Initially with stockades, Membership & key access, now open space public access.Suspect many visitors only ever see Golden Acre at Adel & it's Dam so assume same. Reserve a bit hidden.Nature Reserve (Adel Dam) Mid 1700'sGolden Acre (New Adel Dam) 1825Current Otley Rd 1842
