Boring roads

What are your nominations for the most tedious stretch of road? My least favourite is the ring road from Cottingley to Lower Wortley. I try to avoid it when I can as you don't seem to be getting anywhere.

For me it used to be the stretch from Kirkstall lights all the way to the Yorkshire Post building. Drove it every morning for years and it was always a pain.

The "new" A63 out to the M1 at junction 44(?) from Cross Green - the road where all the light cabling was stolen from. Boring, boring, boring - you could be driving through a generic industrial estate just about anywhere, there are pointless roundabouts and a terminally slow 30mph limit for far too long, enlivened only when the limit shoots up to a dizzying 40mph. And this on a brand new dual carriageway.And all the motorways in the area are as dull as ditch water too.

Definately!I commute by bike and its awful, so bad I actually cycle home via Woodhouse Lane/Headingley rather than do Kirkstall road twice in a day!

Actually I find that stretch to be quite interesting - but then I'm old enough to remember with nostalgia and affection all the fascinating architecture and industries which lined both sides in the 1940s/50s/60s. Also at the present time the massive civil engineering alterations which are going on in connection with the new bus lanes are quite stunning, and the scene changes noticably almost weekly.For anyone interested there is a comprehensive and most interesting website which is updated regularly :-A65 Kirkstall Road Quality Bus Corridor

The roads around Selby and Sherburn are worse, flat boring, featureless, no wonder the cyclists around call the area the 'Desert'

It's not without interest though looking out when sat on the top floor of the bus service that goes to and from Thorner and beyond. When using your link I was casually moving around and came across this place on Red Hall Lane (or nearby) http://tiny.cc/nju21It looks interesting, though probably not a gatehouse that you have recently been interested in. I wonder if the old railway to Wetherby passed here on its way to Thorner?
