Hello,I was just wondering if anyone could help me out with the History of Munro House in Leeds opp. the Bus Station. We have just taken the first floor of the building to create a multidisciplinary creative space and I am keen to find out all about the history of the building.I am led to believe that the building was built in 1886. I have found information regarding the slums etc and have looked through all the images on Leodis but cant seem to find info about the building itself and why it was built/what was housed there. Can anyone help out at all? Many thanks in advance!Laura

Here's a snippet from another thread poted by rikj with just a glimpse of Munro House for starters:My favourite (gents) were the ones in the old bus station. Circular, in one way and out the other. It was only years later that I found out what we'd been standing on all those years. If anyone remembers those circular gents toilets then here's a view of what was underneath. Wonder if it's still there? It was meant as an air raid shelter for 150 persons, 250 "at a push".Munro House, still standing, is clearly visible here to get your bearings. Quarry Hill, under construction in the pic is long gone.

Hi Laura. Here's a nice 1960's photo of Munro House, there's some info on what businesses occupied the building at the time.http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... SPLAY=FULL
My flickr pictures are herehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/phill_dvsn/Because lunacy was the influence for an album. It goes without saying that an album about lunacy will breed a lunatics obsessions with an album - The Dark side of the moon!

SPLAY=FULL Thanks Phil thats great - We've managed to find the information from around 1937 that the Building was actually called Unecol house (some say union?) but I cant find anything from 1886 when the building was created - its a mystery!
