Considering one of the reasons the old Midland line to Goose Hill was closed was due to mining subsidence, they might reconsider, but I guess it's going to be so long until it's built it may have finished settling by then.Noticed it going past Church Fenton, possibly the site of the new airport when Yeadon closes 'cos no-one wants to be charged £15 just to drive within a mile of it.Never mind, it's another scheme they can drop in the next round of cuts!
I like work. I can watch it for hours.

It'll be interesting to see what it does to the "city centre", whether it'll pull much south of the river. I think it's a decent move in terms of regenerating that part of the city, and could double the size of the city centre as we know it I guess.I wonder whether they'll use that cutting shown in the photos to get to it.Also interesting in the report where they rule out building right next to the existing station in order to not impinge on future development - wonder if the car parks will eventually make way for more platforms.Still, as noted elsewhere, given the timescales their talking about, I'll be able to take my retirement trip on it. Astonishing how long these things take, wonder how they compare to the Victorian timescales for "similar" projects

You mean a large airfield, straddled by two major rail routes and a couple of miles off a motorway. I magine being able to land their and only an hour and bit from central London on HS2 and 2hr to Edinburgh.

'whether it'll pull much south of the river. 'That was a published stratergy of the Council some 30 years ago - I suppose it's trying to do that, but with limited success.

I also wondered why the name Leeds New Lane Station is used. It may just be a planning stage code name but maybe that has already been selected as the station's name. Why New Lane? As an idea, why not call it Leeds Cynder Track in view of the nearby Isle of Cynder (only joking, but perhaps not that much! ).

New Lane seems to be the street in the middle of the area of land to vanish under the stationhttp://goo.gl/maps/YirTDUntil today I'd not have been able to tell you where it was without looking at a map.

Cheers Phill. I did not know of the New Lane! Mind you, my knowledge of even the centre of Leeds is pretty poor. When a motorists stops me and asks for directions I find I don't know the one-way system at all well.

One good thing to come out of it anyway, our envious rivals Sheffield (they who cried about our music arena) will feel pretty peeved.Leeds to get a brand new terminus, they get a halt 5 miles out of the City centre at Meadowhall
