The venom from those hornets is said to be much worse than our native hornets and that they attack with little (if any) provocation. They also attack wasps and bees. Southern England will get them first but it may not take long before they get up North if the warmer weather trend continues. Not many wasps about so far this year.Must be the cold weather we had earlier in the year.Next week could see more appearing as the warm front moves up ! I did see a stangely marked Ladybird in my garden yesterday. It was a dull red colour but the spots near its head and across the middle of it's wing case seemed to merge into each other. not seen this type before! Hope we don't get your Hornets Leodian

"Hope we don't get your Hornets Leodian". So do I stutterdog!I'm not keen on wasps as they tend to be temperamental and if indoors they never seem able to find their way out and so get even more nasty minded. I'm sure that if a window was left just ever so slightly opened that wasps will get in but then on opening windows wide open they still cannot then find the way out! I don't like killing things unless I feel I have little choice but wasps indoors usually seem to give me no option.

Don't know if it's been mentioned on an earlier page before? But the reason wasps are nasty little blighters, especially at the end of Summer in August/September is because they are drunk. The apples, fruits and berries are over ripe, the sugar content ferments. It's like they are binging on wine and cider!
