Cheers Jogon.I felt very bad not having anything to feed the swan, as it clearly came to me. I wonder why it's wing seemed damaged and if it is in any danger because of that?

Saw a mink in the canal under Wellington Road Bridge the other day. Reminded me of the summer some eight to ten years ago when for three months or so when an otter was to be seen on a regular basis swimming around in the river behind the YEP building. The paper didn't mention it, so I can only suppose they hadn't noticed.

I regularly see deer in the woods along the Aire Valley, one leapt out in front of my bike as I was cycling down towards Rodley roundabout, it then bounded straight in front of oncoming cars nearly causing a pile up, it was followed by 2 more. They must come quite far into the city because I've seen them near the canal at Gotts Park.

That's an interesting sight Jon. I've read that deer are becoming a pest in some parts of the country but I've hardly ever seen any genuinely wild ones during walks in the countryside. There are many in Harewood Estate near Weardley and some are wild in the sense that they roam free in the woods and could get away, but they will be farmed to some extent. I think I must scare animals away as I see very few rabbits nowadays and have not seen a live hedgehog in years. I've also not seen a live fox in years but do occasionally see dead ones at the side of roads (such as Scott Hall Road near the playing fields).

There are plenty of foxes around West Park you can hear them screeching at night, its a horrendous racket. A few nights ago I was watching a family of foxes frolicking around on the grass verge at the side of the ring road, the fox cubs were chasing each other in circles and running in and out of the bushes alongside the footpath.
