Seem to recall a session back in the (pre-spouse/pre-mortgage/pre-kids) day at the Eagle North Street. Someone said it was residential and we vigorously debated this point.Decided against. Then one said the New Beehive in Bradford was, and so a project was hatched. But shelved for wasting two days + uneasy feel they may booked for 'the half hour' by newly-met couples.Never understood that, surely ten mins would seem enough?

Is The Horsforth Hotel on Featherbank Lane still going?I've just read through every comment and though not a big drinker myself, it's so sad to hear of these pubs disappearing.I had my engagement do in the Haddon Hall...what's going on, eh?My nephew took over The Crown in Pudsey about 3 years ago so finger's crossed.

And so may be the Pointer.Walked past it last Friday teatime when it seemed to be getting a bit of a once-over from a few tradesmen.Had a go at getting the griff from a bloke painting outside. Fell at the first when it became clear there was a cultural divide between the two of us. I can't paint and he couldn't speak a word of the local lingo. But I will keep my eyes on the project. What might it become then?Flats? Offices? Club? Surely it's not going to be a pub.Anybody know? Hi salt 'n pepper. There is a post by Spackler (dated October 9 2011) on page 96 of the Leeds Lost Pubs thread that may be of interest. This link should (hopefully!) bring that page up. http://www.secretleeds.co.uk/forum/Mess ... ighLight=1 The rumour is now it is actually going to be a restaurant. An Indian would be my guess.

The Kiln now has a to let sign outside. It would appear that pub use is very unlikeyAny offers at £18800 p.a. ?    The Kiln - BurmantoftsThis ex Public house is suitable and compliant with A1 retail use, A2 Financial Services use and A3 cafeteria. The premises may be suitable for many other outlets such as a Kindergarten or some more imaginative ideas where planning permission may have to be applied for. With two large public areas, a bar which could possibly be removed with Buildings Regulations approval, Male and female toilet facilities, extensive parking, and the added advantage of a two bedroom flat to the first floor with the kitchen on the ground floor. The property is located centrally within a modern housing estate cul-de-sac.Internal viewing is essential to evaluate the possibilities and all potential tenants will be accompanied by the agent. The owners are seeking a tenant on a normal leasing arrangement and will agree to a reasonable rent free period.

The Kiln is no loss, but I'm sad to hear about The Fountain Head. Most of the pubs in the area are now closed, and The Fountain was the only original boozer left.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

The Gamecock in Greenthorpe is closing, probably going to become a Greggs and Subway. It was a mess anyway, nothing like it was in the 50's & 60's....

The Rising Sun on Kirkstall Road is still selling furniture, despite one or two "unscheduled" closed days from time to time.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.
