I wonder and I can't place the Blue Moon?all clubs typically in south, west and east Leeds, but somehow there were two clubs in whinmoor! General Accident folded in 1971- promoted in 1969 and the A Division was too strong.I played against Milford in 1968 when they were in the Sunday League. A very tough team, they had a winger called Barry Parker who turned pro on the back of good performances for Milford.

Had a go at Leeds and Wakefield but ended up at Bramley? Hi Parksider/ChironI knew Barry Parker, he lived in the Cardigans off Kirkstall Road. I think that you are right about him being a 'scrap metal man' but he was unemployed when I first knew him in 1967. He was built like a prop but was fast and played on the wing. He didn't last long at Leeds, I understand, because of his background, reputation and character and not because of his performances on the pitch. I have no idea what happened to him.Ian

I played in a final against Queens Road at the Archie Gordon ground which was roughly where Morrisons at Kirkstall is now. Then went to Allerton Grange which at that time was Union only (no football at all) Hi geoffb,Secret Leeds and Leodis are fantastic places for recalling old and forgotten memories.I remember playing Alwoodley school as they were the only team that I ever played against who had purple jerseys. When I captained Quarry Mount, we used to play Alwoodley, Bentley Lane, Potternewton and Queen's Road Schools. We probably played other schools but I can't remember them. We played our 'home' games at Bedquilts Fields off Adel Lane, which was a greater distance from Quarry Mount, in Woodhouse, than playing our 'away' games. The captain of Queen's Road school was Malcolm Carter who I also played with at Leeds Modern School and for many years at Moortown RUFC. The captain of Bentley Lane school was Paul Fisher who went on to play at Roundhay RUFC. Unfortunately, Paul died of a heart attack in his 30's or 40's. Paul's elder brother Peter Fisher, was at Leeds Modern school with me and he, too, went on to play at Moortown RUFC. Peter was a P.E. teacher at Stainbeck School and, I think, became the headmaster. From memory, we seemed to play the same teams all the time, several times a year, probably because we just played 'local' schools or because outside of Hunslet, there weren't all that many junior school rugby league teams. The same thing happened when I played for Moortown Colts. We seemed to play Headingley Colts, Bramley Colts and Roundhay Colts nearly every other week because there probably weren't as many local clubs that had Colts teams. I remember Ian McGeechan playing for Headingley Colts as he is a similar age to me. As you will be aware, Ian went to Allerton Grange School before he played for Headingley Colts.Things are different nowadays, since 'mini-rugby' was introduced for children as young as six, many years ago, it is more organised and clubs like Moortown, Otley, Yarnbury and West Park have prospered with teams in every age group up to about nineteen. I know that some of these players go on to play for the senior teams, but it seems that there are alot who, sadly, leave the game. As mentioned in my previous post, clubs do not seem to have as many senior teams within their clubs as they used to do.Ian

He was very difficult to tackle, you had to spot him and tackle him as soon as he got the ball, once he got into his stride he would run straight through you.

I recall playing U17 RL for Shaw Cross against Market District Boys Club - they're not in your list - had they ceased to exist by the early seventies. When I played against them they were a farily formidable side.

I would say almost certainly that it would be the Old Red Lion that was at Thwaite Gate, Hunslet. The 'Blue Moon' is a mystery to me.
there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.
