Is the building in the first couple of pics the one opposite where PRB Services used to be??PRB being the ex-military Land Rover sellers, that later moved into an old Chapel (off Barras Street??) before closing its doors for good a few years ago)

It's on Upper Wortley Road, to the south of Tong Road.

Often standing alone amongst thousands or red brick victorian buildings, and often disguised by cement render which (I think)was commonly used to protect weathering stone and georgian hand made brick. There's a few more of similar (?) vintage on Wortley Rd, corner of Station Rd.This pic is from 1994 but they are still standing and in fact look as though they are now renovated internally? Hmm, there doesn't seem to be any way I can upload the pic... Got it - a Safari problem, Firefox worked OK      I looked these up today, the cement rendering on old brickwork seems to give these really old working class houses away. This row appears on the 1854 map so I would love to think they are pre-victorian. Well worth both a look and a preservation order.Sorry I forgot pres. orders only apply to the history of the rich and famous.......

I always wondered about this building, good to see it's getting some attention on here. I spent from the age of 9 to the age of 22 living on the Kirkdales and always had a soft spot for the older buildings.
Young 'uns that have no interest in the history of the place they grew up in....disgraceful.
