Shame on me, I lived opposite on Old Oak Drive from 1962 to 1976 (on and off). The shop used to be (Peggy) Fowler's Newsagents and Post Office in those days. I'd get the red West Yorkshire/ blue Sammy Ledgard bus right outside down to town.JD

When he called the ambulance the street was named as 'Bentley Parade, Meanwood' - which actually exists just off Meanwood Road near the Monk Bridge Road junction although it's just a residential street - maybe the site of the former Mellor home?

Back in the 60's a series called Inside George Webley which starred Roy Kinnear and Patsy Rowlands was filmed on Woodside View, Leeds 4. Opening shots of the half hour prog showed Kinnear walking up Woodside View with Kirkstall Rd power sation in the background. I think this is where there is some confusion re the opening credits of the Charlie Drake prog The Worker.

Jogon I agree that Kay Mellor does seem to have used a few ideas from Sally Wainwright's darkly funny "Braithwaites". Naturally, any programme filmed and set in Leeds is bound to get the critical attention of SL. Let's give it a chance at least. JD

That made me giggle. This also reminds me I ought to find At Home With The Braithwaites on DVD.Has that series from around the nineties been mentioned which revolved around a family in Headingley? I know that's not much to go on, but details escape me.
