I noticed the gates of the Royal Oak on Kirkgate were chained shut as I passed on the bus tonight .Don't know if it has shutters up as I was looking at the back yard.

The Oddfellows/Rag and louse/Cask and brewer in Yeadon is closed as is the Robin Hood/Tut and shive opposite , a sad pairing.

I guess it may be hard to exactly define what a pub is but I wonder what was the highest ever number of pubs in Leeds at one time? When you see old maps they often show many PH marked on them, sometimes with several closely nearby!

Yet I believe I'm correct in saying that the earlier O.S. maps didn't show Beer Houses that didn't have full spirit licences, so for the period of maximum provision we can't count on the maps. ( in both senses! )

Ive just passed the fairway and im sorry to have to report that the mechanical jaws of pub death are on the job

hi im new on here,so apoligize for any mistakes im searching for two pubs my great grandfather drank inn,the cattlemarket in holbeck and the lord nelson.thanks for your time.
