Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?

I'll try not to bore with my transport hobby/career, but in the early 1960s I was once travelling on a West Riding Guy Arab bus with a full load one evening - the Arabs were very powerful double deckers but on that occasion it was struggling badly towards the summit and the driver had to drop down into first gear - a very difficult gearchange on such models - and he did it magnificently to our delight. In more recent times I've driven on those routes myself , 163 -166 nicknamed the "Valium route" because of the tight timetable, and the modern buses sail up the hill effortlessly with their fully automatic gearboxes - how times have changed.

I that the steep hill that lies between the Swimming baths and Cross Hills ??The hill between the swimming baths and Cross Hills is called Butt Hill. Leeds Road at the other side of Cross Hills is a steep one too.
