Hi again Zettie! Thanks for the quick reply. Fraid the Bedford pub was a no go area for a 13/14yr old!.
Always more lasses than lads in the afternoons. We stood dithering in the shadows and Mark used to
come round with a little torch saying" Come on boys,where are you? Grab a partner and take her on the floor!" (Good job we knew what he meant!) Any lad standing after that,Mark used to grab as a partner and
dance off with him! Most embarrassing.after a few 'Steps',he would steer you into a girl 'wallflower' and say,
"NOW, Dance!" It worked! I did learn a few steps anyway and the Strict Tempo music, (on record in the afternoons), helped a lot. I think it was Victor Sylvester.Really good to dance to! There was a local
trio playing in the evenings .I was a bit young for being out in the dark! That was during the war 1943/44.
Nice to remember those times,though.

Prompted by the memorial discussion I was looking for info on the airfield and found this:

Possibly no new info but worth a look, and if you like that sort of thing there is lots of info about little known airfields for all of europe, could lose a few hours in there!
