Past The Albion last night and yet another little gem has succumbed to the curse of the shutter.Spent many a happy dinner hour there in the 90s.Isn't it time something was done, to me alcoholic drink is far too easily available from the supermarkets at a third of the price in a public bar or even your WMC. I also think the licensing hours are far too long now. When I srated drinking pubs had a hell of a lot more people in them because there was less time for a drink. Stop the supermarkets and offies selling it 24hrs a day, and certainly stop the supermarkets selling it cheap(Hypocrite?).Yes I think the key is availability.11-3 and 5.30-11 sounds sensible to me.Maybe people spend too much time now "virtually socialising " and not "Physically socialising"

Is that the Albion on Armley road? I can't think of another one!

My brother tells me they had a break-in and the burglars set fire to the place. Luckily, someone spotted the flames and called the fire brigade. Hopefully there's not too much damage. It survived a near-hit by the Luftwaffe only for some scumbags to try and burn it down.

The fire was contained in a corner of the tap room, I'm told. Do I know you, Hazman? I also spent most dinner hours in there in the 90s (and 2000s.)

Hopefully it was a small un. Be such a shame for such a pub with character to be shut perm. Mind you, it wouldn't be the 1st would it.

For some inexplicable reason, there was a party going on on top of the Haddon Hall on Friday night. The shutters are still on the windows, but all the lights on the top/roof floor were on, and a bunch of guys were up there making merry!

It was still a good pub in the 70s through to the mid 90s, with excellent Tetley's and ham and mustard sandwiches.Shutters were still on yesterday.
