I knew from old maps that there might be a Bench Mark (BM) here but I had never spotted it on just casual looks. I decided to have a better look when I was in the area on September 26 2017 and to my surprise I spotted the BM despite it being mainly hidden by shrub growth. The BM is on the 'Two Water Lane' building on Water Lane. There has been a BM there since at least 1891 on old maps. From information that I have now found the 'Two Water Lane' is a Grade 11 listed building that was an old warehouse that was converted into offices in 1989. These photos show a close-up of the BM (taken while also holding some of the shrub away) and a view of the shrub covered BM (a bit of that is just visible in about centre). The third photo shows a view of 'Two Water Lane'.

Hi urban rambler .
The first photo here is a close-up of that Bench Mark that I photographed on March 16 2012. The second shows its location in the base of the pillar that is in the centre of that photo taken March 16 2012.

This Bench Mark (BM) is at bridge number 225H where that rail bridge crosses the Leeds & Liverpool Canal near to Leeds Station. I was surprised to spot the BM as I was only cursorily looking at the old stone work at the bridge when passing by on the canal tow path on October 24 2017. On looking at the Old Maps UK website I found there was a BM there in at least 1891. The first photo is a close-up of the BM and the second shows its location at the base of the jutting out structure between the lamp post and the graffiti.
PS. Note the 3 friendly swans on the canal. They will be used to seeing people and will come to you presumably expecting some food. They will happily take grass from your hand, though be careful for your fingers!
