According to LCC's website the Meanwood Valley Trail interconnects with other public footpaths which can take you as far as Golden Acre Park. The Ring road in question will be somewhere on the stretch between Otley Road and Tongue Lane (about 2/3s of the way to king lane).

Hi here is how you get to it, you start on the ring road and pass david lloyds gym on your left, the next set of lights you come to are the ones where you can turn left to david lloyds or right to homebase and housing estate, if you go straight through those lights you then get to the bottom of the ring road and turn sharp left just before the adel traffic lights. Park there and you can walk down a dirt track and under the ring road via a cow tunnel, then you turn right and it says meanwood valley trail on the wooden signpost and after about 300 yards you will see the hole in the ground with the entrance on your left, there seems to be the remains of some old building (lots of old stone scattered around etc). Thanks

Oh sorry Dale. i was half asleep last night & thought you were talking about the Adel bunker. Right got you now you mention the cows tunnel. Yes the hole in the ground with the arch. I'm afraid it's nothing special & is only an old cellar for the building that stood there. Was it a stone works? I seem to recall. I used to have that pic. I thimk my co explore Rik has it. I'll have a look & post the link.

Hi phill, thanks for the info (saves me a lot of getting messy as its all wet down there) would still like to see your pics if you can find them, i did check the first 3 pics as you said above but there definatly not the ones. I was kind of hoping it would have been a strange underground bunker with the odd skelly bob and a few bits of gold scattered around etc but never mind, ill keep on searching. Ive spent many a late night drooling over your pics (i guess its better than drooling over other pics available on the net). Like i said if you find the pics please let me know as there not in your current pictures. Thanks

Is the third picture part of that place as well (the one with nasty looking white things hagging down)?cheers

Do you mean this pic dongsdale? The nasty white hanging things are worse than they look !! They are the eggs sacs of cave spiders. Not the sort of thing you want to get caught in your hair.I'm assuming that we are talking about the same place? If you put on your best slithering trousers and descend into the entrance then it looks like this:I have to say phil very kindly let me go first on this one. Shame about the football at the end of the passage. I don't think the owner felt like retrieving it. I've some pics of the outside entrance if you'd like which would confirm it's the same place. It's on the site of the old Smithy Mills and must be something to do with that. Maybe part of an old system of mill races.
