Its been gone a long time but - why was a pub on ShakespeareStrret in Burmantofts called the 'Roundhay Park Hotel'?Demolished during slum clearance late 50'searly 60's Don't know, but my great grandad used to work as a waiter there in the late 1940's, my dad was asking the same question this afternoon actually

that same doorway now - A sad state for this historic pub and fine old building.On a happier note the Junction has the shutters removed and is to reopen soon!

I can remember the Volunteer on Domestic St.I used this pub in 1958-9 as it was one of the few pubs we could get in as we were underage! Another one was the Goodman nr Petty's Printers.They both had juke boxes and had good music on them! We also went to the Gainsborough cinema nearby and we lived in Armley.In those days you could go anywhere in Leeds without fear of being attacked by gangs becaused you had strayed into their territory.
