Kirkstall Forge isn't going anywhere - it is very much included in the development of the greater site. Unfortunately, the development plans (as of a couple of years back when I went on site) were not really that respectful (unlike the Tower Works development) with a rather tacky treatment of the forge planned and much demolition of attractive 19th century buildings for questionable reasons. However, the Forge itself will certainly remain a key part of any development (if the somewhat optimistic development actually happens at all!).The site is certainly old - whilst the forge itself is mostly 18th C or later, the site has been a forge for so long it makes Kirkstall Abbey look young!

There you go Scandy.. It shows how a bit of research & putting 2 & 2 together gets you pretty hot like Sm1thson has just got!! Before you all go searching up there be warned i doubt you'll find them.. we've only found them once.. There so hard to find that we've lost them again :-) Chances of anybody finding them are as good as winning the lottery twice in a row!!!

I've noticed a lot of pics have disappeared on various threads! The ones from my photobucket account still work, as do other privately hosted pics - but there's a heck of a lot gone AWOL throughout the different threads! It looks like the forum's pic hosting has expired?Munki - bung a shilling in the meter, mate!

Hi can anyone give me any info on the strange underground shelter type thing in meanwood? if you set of on the meanwood valley trail from the ring road you first go under the huge cow tunnel under the ring road and then follow the trail and after a few hundred yards there is a square hole in the ground on the left and there is a small arch which if you squeeze under then opens up into a large room with a door at the end ( i didnt dare venture into the door but intend to do so in the future), any info would be much appreciated. I love this site and it has sent me on many explorations.
