I really hope someone can help me out. I have been trying so hard to remember the name of the nightclub that was owned by Paul and Costa - two greek brothers, in Leeds City Centre. You went down a flight of stairs to the club and Im fairly sure there was a cafe/restaurant on ground level. This was in the late 70's and I think the chef there used to work at the Intime Nightclub in the Merrion Centre. A guy called Dane Starkey used to dj at the club. Can anyone help?

Yea, I was wondering when the 'blues' clubs would show up on here. Sonny's Blues had been going for ages before the 80's. It was a gambling house/brothel with DJ's in the cellar playing reggae/ska and soul tunes. There were quite a few up Chappy' that sprung up in the mid 70's. Cliffs, Max's, to name 2. Then when the house music scene exploded in the late 80's there seemed to be a blues on every street in Chapletown. The Twighlight and Sonnys being the main contenders, Cliffs and Max's then went down the house music lane on weekends but sticking to reggae and soul during the week. Some blues were only open for a short while so they never really got names, but they were known by the numbers of the house they were in, ie 62's was 62 Spencer Place as was 49's. Then there was the Dungeons which was in what seemed like 2 houses knocked into 1. The main part of the blues was in the cellar which seemed to go on forever. Also there was The Garage on Shepherds Lane, which was housed in a car repair shop, which is still there. There was Les's Blues which was on Grange Terrace. I'm sure there's others that I can't remember at the minute.
Sit thissen dahn an' tell us abaht it.

Remember Darkies, we used to leave 'roots' at 2 sharp and be waiting for the guy who would work at roots then open the blues up (he looked like a young bob marley) . it meant we could have a couple of games of pool before it got busy and the pool sharks would arrive. a nice goat curry before a shuffle in the pitch black rdancing oom downstairs next to the bar. the selecta only had one turntable.i vaguely remember 'sir yanks' and a madman waving a cutlass.some good live music at roots - magazine, toots and the maytals, wayne county and the electric chairs spring to mindback in the 70's i worked as part time 'chef' serving chicken in a basket in a club called 'the Pentagon'

What about "Intime" in the Merrion, better still anyone remember going to Terry's Alltime after club kick out.Although it's before my time, I remember as a kid a night club in the Arndale Centre in Headingley with the Bowling Alley (which I did go in)
