What a splendid picture of the Anchor !I seem to remember this closed when I last visited the area in spring 1977. On the same visit the Gardeners Arms on Beza Street and the Garden Gate were still open but the Anchor and Brassmoulders were both closed, but still standing so may have re-opened. I think most of the houses had just been demolished then, leaving the pubs standing mournfully in the desolation.

You're right it was - here's another pic - I think this is a pub that could be made to pay its way - hope we haven't heard the last of it.

there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

A few recent observations...1. although not 'lost' I notice that the 'Old George' in Garforth has been revamped and its name (of probably c200 years ) has disappeared . Shame.2. Not much sign of life at the Old Roundabout at Stanningley - there are signs on the window about bonfire night, which doesn't look good. anyone know any more?3. Incredibly (and this another example of life after the 'shutters of death' have gone up) the Ancestor at the bottom of Cockshott Lane is open again.

That's where we used to start the Stanningley Run in the 70s. A beautiful pint of Tetley's Mild, brought to your table by a little old lady (so long as there were more than four of you, you just shouted out "Iris!")
