The 4's boast of every 10 minutes is a joke. It would have to be evenly spread to do that and you are more likely to see 10 together than one every 10. The pilots aren't blessed with too much common either as they love to block roads in the city centre just to hang on to the back of the "one in front" rahter than hang about where they aren't doing too much blocking like Infirmary St.

Do they still run the purple slugs in York ?The fleet is only 20+ that I know of over both cities, given the reports of bunching some areas must be missing a lot of timetabled services.Have First abondoned the X64 Leeds-York service ?Have only observed Coastliner services on the A64 recently.

It was recently reported that First was to stop its X64 service, so it must now have happened.

It stopped at the last timetable change - not content with running trains betwixt Leeds and York, Worst obviously decided to try and snaffle Coastliners busy services. Shame it didn't work. The plus side is that Coastliner now run a more frequent service.

The plus side is that Coastliner now run a more frequent service. The purple slugs in York were "confined to Barracks" every evening and all day Sundays some time ago - because First won't pay the "customer service hosts" (grrrrrr, conductors) at quiet times. service 4 is then operated by mormal "One Person" double deckers.Incredible though it may seem, perhaps not, the X64 was started simply to "utilise" the new saloons which had rapidly become redundant when the York to Leeds/Bradford Airport service failed to "jangle the till" sufficiently.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

Yes, Worst have given up trying to compete with Coastliner between Leeds and York. I don't think their York-LBA service generated any passengers anyway, their patrons probably going via Leeds anyway. Some musing the the YEP (6/10) about the fare increases reducing passengers. Well you know my opinion, they're aiming towards passengerless buses! The push is for everyone to get their weekly or monthly tickets, but I do note there isn't a Green Zone Monthly option (grrrr!) unless you're a student.I do note in the comments, and have noticed that the patronage of the 36 has increased. They've not reduced the fares, just not put them up as fast as First have.
I like work. I can watch it for hours.

Oh dear!http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... 81957.jpAN investigation has been launched after a bus crashed into a pedestrian barrier and a traffic light in Leeds city centre. The First bus, left, rolled backwards onto the central reservation outside the Three Legs pub on The Headrow just after 7pm on Wednesday.YEP reader Ian Sadler, who captured the damage on camera, said: "People were laughing and trying to work out how on earth the bus had ended up there."A spokesman for First UK Bus said: "An empty First bus in between journeys and parked up on the Headrow was involved in a minor road traffic collision."The bus rolled backwards a few yards resulting in a collision with a traffic light. No one was injured in the incident and we have now launched a full investigation into the matter."They were very, very lucky there - this could have been a lot more serious.Perchance the driver was on a 'comfort break' - I've been on buses where they park up at this location and the driver nips across the road and through a door with a keypad in the buildings on the old Odeon side of the road, returning several minutes later. BTW - this happened on Wednesday at 7pm and (as far as I can tell) hasn't made it into Thursdays paper....
