If anyone has access to this and some hours to spare,it could be useful having a look. The following link is to a photo I've just come across in the LAVC website, where it is credited 'Werner Kissling, 1964'. OK, it does not show a skull but the stone looks eerily skull-like! I very much doubt though that the skulls are luck stones, but you never know! http://www.leeds.ac.uk/library/spcoll/l ... -stone.GIF

Interesting proposal to turn it back into a pub again. No mention of the former existence of the skulls in relation to the pub though in the heritage statement. If it goes ahead it would be good if they could be rescued from their present plight and put inside the new pub for viewing,a Skulls Bar perhaps?
Steve JonesI don't know everything, I just like to give that impression!

Vektor Investments Management Limited have submitted the planning application, which saya they want to convert 3 5 and 7 Crown Street into pub and a take away. The 2 storey rear extension on numbers 3 and 5 is to be demolished.I HOPE it will be a real ale/drinking pub rather than the type of "bars" that are around there at the minute (with the exception of Brew Dog). The take away aspect is, well, interesting and could be indicative of what the developers have in mind for the pub and the type of clientele they are planning on attracting.
