Shame to loose another one of Leeds pubs again, but once they go down hill and get the wrong crowd in, they very rarely can be made into a good pub again. The Fellmonger is another one that's been closed following years of trouble in there. That place lost it's license after a mass brawl at a funeral wake the other weekhttp://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/lat ... _1_3985497

Well off the beaten track with surely no passing trade and something of a reputation.I can remember when it was a decent enough local, although some of the clientèle have always been...colourful, shall we say?

Well it did used to be a smashing pub in the early 80's Ravey. It was my local in those days. It was run by a couple called Brian and Barbara, they didn't stand any nonsense, and you never got any in either. It was a good old community pub, it even had a piano in the back room where the oldies went. But it has been a rough place for the last 20 years at least sadly.

Issued by somebody of Inspector rank, it lasts for 24 hours unless they take it in front of a magistrate.

Occurred to me as I was waiting for my bus home last night (to a separate destination) how many of the bu**ers came past with Middleton Arms on the front. This should be easy enough for First - or is is Worst on here - to manage when the location disappears without trace, what with the lighting signage system now in use. It does pose one or two interesting questions which might generate debate on here. These are:What should the new destination of the former Middleton Arms terminus be?How would LCT have managed the same problem back in the days of the roller destination boards? New ones, or plenty of paint - and painters? How many other Leeds pubs, or former Leeds pubs, were distinguished by having its name as a bus service destination?Apologies to you afficionados if I may have used some of the wrong terminology in this message. On a completely different level, the Middleton Arms was the first public house in which I was given a plastic glass from which to enjoy my beer. Opening time I think on a Wednesday teatime circa May 1973 after a football match on the clearings in the afternoon. Plastic glass - there's a contradiction in terms.I wasn't expecting it to be plastic. Half the ale nearly went over my left shoulder.
