It means: rear-wheel-drive + fat tyres + snow = accident. You should have bought a 2CV!!! It's not quite the same though is it??Yes, I agree, in the aspects of;Narrow tyres (bite in to snow)'High' ground pressure on ice (but not a lot of weight)Naff all power (to spin wheels)Quite a low weight (less kinetic energy)The XKR will easily spin a wheel on a bone-dry road, (with T/C engaged), especially through an off-camber junction, or slow bend - without any real variation of accelerator position. We've been using the Volvo estate, & my 110 instead. He'd show 'em how it's done!I don't drive any more but when I was a salesman in thecar accessories trade, we used to sell a product called.'Liquid Tyre Chain' in aerosol cans. It was very successfulwhen sprayed round the treads on your tyres and it gave instant traction to wheelspin. I remember the short publicity filmthat the manufacturers( Smith's?) put out,in which they appliedthe LTC to a London bus tyres on Streatham Ice Rink andthe 97hp vehicle easily drove off! (You didn't see it demolishthe box office of course! LOL!) Can you still buy it or has it been banned by H&S? I believe it contained ethanol or some suchsubstance that made you cough a bit mixed with the aerosolpropellant!

ABS effectively gives you no brakes at all on snow and ice - remember the whole point of an ABS system is that it stops the wheel from "locking up" under braking, thus allowing you to steer around any obstacle in theory. So, unless you have an early 90's Audi (which had a switch on the dash to allow you to turn the ABS off in icy conditions) you press the brake pedal down, the wheel starts to slip on the ice and the ABS releases the braking effort to stop what it thinks is a skid - the result is that you don't stop!
