Why is "Look North" making the opening of the Leeds Arena into some kind of war with Sheffield? Or am I being over sensitive?

I did look for an arena thread, honest injun, but couldn't find it. Reminder to self - "must try harder". Only saw the sea from a distance this morning, it was flat as the proverbial pancake. Lots of strange accents about at the moment. Geordie, Scottish and even the occasional Wessie, as the Scarborians like to scathingly refer to us. Been a bit waarm over in your neck of the woods I hear, hasn't been too bad over here.To hark back to the point I was trying to make, I just thought "Look North" were trying resurrect an argument that started and finished a couple of years ago.P.S. Jogon - did you see we had a Minke whale washed up on the South beach. Looks like it had drowned after getting caught up in lobster pots.

Sad about the whale.I remember noticing Geordie accents in Whitby as a young un, it is virtually Middlesboro on sea. Also as a slightly older un, they sold Tetleys Imperial up there which wasn't generally avail back home.Whitley Bay this weekend hopefully, bit o' Geordie Culture (Whitley Houston)http://youtu.be/89jPaJWLHTs

If anyone knows how to absorb these into the main thread I would not be offended in the least. :-)

The A174 and the railway make Whitby an easy day trip from Teesside as an alternative to the bank holiday lunacy of Redcar. I'd recommend anyone who is interested in the history of Teesside to read the Hidden Teesside blog (www.hidden-teesside.co.uk). Middlesbrough is a mere child compared to Leeds but has a complex history of its own.
