This was posted on Leedsface by Kevin Moyles. The street sign seems to suggest Poplar Terrace, looking through the old directories & census I cannot find a Poplar Terrace in Leeds after 1881. Any idea where ??? (photo J Soper) PS Click on the photo for full size

There was a Poplar Terrace in Garforth in the 1911 census but this must be a main road what with the tram lines & tram stop.

Just a thought, it could actually be a main road and the Poplar Terrace is a name for those houses only. Look on Chapeltown Road for example here... http://goo.gl/maps/EfGNhYou can just make out that although this is Chapeltown Road, the sign behind and to the left of the lamp post states "St Martin's Terrace".Maybe it is the same with this place too - could be anywhere

At the extreme top left of the photo, the building has "[Pop?]lar Ho[use]" emblazoned on it. A quick flick of the trade directories and Leodis doesn't turn anything up. I did think it could be the terrace on Burley Road opposite Poplar Road but those houses have gardens and are set back from the street. As LS1 says, it could be anywhere.

I've found the street, but haven't found it on google maps as yet - Bingley:http://www.zoopla.co.uk/to-rent/details/29238978I'll have a quick search to see if I can pinpoint it, but I'm pretty sure that's the spot!Edit: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Le ... 55,,0,7.31

Fantastic - first rule; don't assume it's Leeds. Great to see that the sign has still remained on the building after all these years albeit in slightly worn condition!
