Not bad money for reading a teleprompter! The new lass is only getting £40,000! Apparently Ms Ackroyd has had £50,000 while she's been off. £3000 a week for, as you say, basically reading from a screen with the odd live interview now and then.Outrageous! If the others are only on about a quarter of that figure I can quite see there would be some bad feeling. As for Keeley.....hubba hubba!! The other thing that gets me going is why they need two presenters on a 30 minute programme. Surely one person could do it? All this reading alternate lines really annoys me. Do they think we'll lose interest if one person speaks for more than a few seconds?

With modern holographic technology it may be worth having various hologram celebrities reading the news. It would make it interesting to see and hear the Yorkshire news given by say Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. As a closing note Humphrey could say (in a Yorkshire accent) "Here's looking at you kid". PS. Kate Silverton would be good choice, but after Keeley Donovan.

My missus always used to like Barry Chambers but I reckon that he won't make the shortlist. What about Alvar Liddell - now there was a classy newsreader: dinner jacket and black tie and that was on the radio!

Wilfred Pickles read the news during the war because the Germans couldn't impersonate him and his Yorkshire accent!
