Secret Leeds last bastion of tbe pedant! I object strongly to being referred to as a pedant, which is a word normally used in a mocking sense. Synonyms for pedant include: nit-picker; hairsplitter and quibbler. I do not think I was being pedantic in what I stated in my post. But I wasn't calling you a pedant, I was calling those who corrected your post pedants - I was sympathising with you

Thanks majorhoundii. I apologise for interpreting your post the wrong way. I blame it all on my very bad sneezing attacks today (and particularly so yesterday) so there may be some particular pollen in the air as I'm not usually a hay fever sufferer, or if I am it is normally mild.

I hardly think that pointing out a factual error on Leodis is being pedantic, or any factual error at all. If a teacher in school teaches somebody something wrong is it being pedantic to correct them? Being pedantic would be pointing out your incorrect spelling on the post above...

I knew an old guy called Les who used to go in the New Roscoe games room with his mate Ken. The 2 old moaning men in the corner types, like Les Dawson's 'Cissie and Ada' they were.Old Les would give you some right stick, call you all sorts, if you got offended by him he had no time for you at all. But if you give it back in banter he thought you were great. Once he started on, you only need to say 'Oh shut up moaning you miserable old ...! He'd crack out laughing I was on his box of Cuban cigars Christmas list in the end.I think it's just a case of seeing little jibes and digs for what they are, banter and fun. Downright full on nasty attacks on you are a totally different thing.
