And there's a subject line you never expected to see. This was a hoax by her manager and happened during Rag Week in 1968. He was later fined.http://newspapers.nl.sg/Digitised/Artic ... .2.49.aspx

My Gran hated that woman, and I've always remembered her as 'Kipper Face' ever since
My flickr pictures are herehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/phill_dvsn/Because lunacy was the influence for an album. It goes without saying that an album about lunacy will breed a lunatics obsessions with an album - The Dark side of the moon!

Aris is Cockney slang for a mildly rude word for bottomAris is one of the very best examples of Double Slang. This occurs where a phrase is turned into a rhyme, and later that rhyme is then turned into another rhyme. In this case the phrase Bottle and Glass became rhyming slang for a mildly rude word for bottom. Then Bottle because Aristotle, which was finally shortened just to Aris. It proves the wide acceptance of Cockney slang that these doublings can evolve over time. So, Anita Harris becomes "A neater 'aris" If you can't work it out try this link: http://www.cockneyrhymingslang.co.uk/slang/arisOr Google cockney rhyming slang arris.....Hopefully that won't offend anyone, but if it does then the mods should feel free to delete it.

I was a Leeds student at the time. I seem to remember a few jokes going around after this "kidnapping". They wouldn't have been in good taste so its probably a good thing that memory fades.
It used to be said that the statue of the Black Prince had been placed in City Square , near the station, pointing South to tell all the southerners who've just got off the train to b****r off back down south!

Cheers for the explanation raveydavey as I would not have even guessed that. I'm clearly not up with cockney rhyming slang!
