Thanks for that buffaloskinner. The long hanging light fittings look an interesting feature that I thought were not there now, but I've just seen a 2012 photo of Queens Arcade in the Leodis website and it shows long hanging light fittings though looking not the same.On passing through Queens Arcade recently I noticed a door that leads to the balcony was open but I did not have time to have a wander up (assuming that I dared to do so!) and it was locked again when I passed by yesterday. Perhaps one day I may knowingly make it up into either or both of Queens and County Arcades balconies.

A workmate of my wife who worked at Schofields in the 70s, her husband had an hairdressing shop on the balcony and I used to call in occasionally. For the life of me I cannot recall the name now, old age probably. The picture is from Jumbo Records history site although I only remember that been in the Merrion Centre before St Johns. Its a bit fuzzy cos I had to blow it up and it was low quality to start with. The balcony is actually closed to the public now so I dont know who may have been up there.
Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?
