I would have thought work on that particular part of Dortmund Square was finished now but clearly, for some reason, it was not!

I normally try to keep an open mind about why this kind of work takes such a long time as my career was in the public sector where there is often some reason (not necessarily acceptable in the "real world" but par for the course in that sector) for delays. However, I've walked past this site frequently in the last few months and can't imagine why it's taking so long to lay some flags and place some benches! Perhaps an arboriculturalist on this forum will enlighten us!I'm glad the tree is actually alive, although at this rate it will become the commemoration for the Diamond Jubilee of Charles being made Prince of Wales!

Think they've got really excited by this project, they are to plant a further 6 more trees!A council spokesman said 'we used the Dortmund Square tree planting project as a learning experience, and we now feel we can take on a much bigger project and plant 6 more trees. We experienced a few technical problems which we have now overcome. Firstly we had to dig the correct size hole for the tree, a team of professional consultants were brought in for this stage. And secondly we wanted to make sure the tree was actually still alive before we put the flags stones back around it. We've noticed a few buds appear in the last few weeks, and the residents of Leeds will welcome the news that these flags, and square will be returned to normal sometime in the next decade. http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... -1-5664926(Sorry couldn't resist the last part)

Re the proposed development of Bond Court (use the link in Phill's post at 09:51:52) I hope that the strong winds that funnel in the area are considered. Infirmary Street and the connections to Bond Court from that road, Park Row and the short passageway from East Parade are all hazardous in wind. Bond Court itself is not a pleasant place to sit when it is windy and/or wet.
