[quotenick="The Parksider"]Mick, when I was a kid we used to go to the quarry on the east side of wetherby road between the junction with easterly road and ring road.Alongside it (north end) was a magical, mysterious cottage called Ash Bank House. Witches lived there and there was a treasure chest of gold under the floor (at least so we were told).Years on it's long gone but I wished I could find a photo of it. Never have HOWEVER through your brilliant investigatory powers can you find it on census's and reveal the occupants?Parksider. I have found Ash Bank House, so far having no luck in the census but will keep digginghttp://tinyurl.com/ckkqz5q

Aren't they being sold by Verity - wasn't that the name of those who had the tea rooms? Parksider. I am afraid there is not anything out of the ordinary to report about Ash Bank House in 1911. Info here http://flic.kr/s/aHsjF1bYSVClick on the "photos" to enlarge

Brilliant again!!The quarry was visible from the road but it was small. To stop kids from falling climbing the face it was broken up and graded. The fascination for me is how years ago you did not go to a builders merchant, you just quarried the stone from the plot and built the house out of that...

I think the law for quarrying is a bit weird as technically the queeen owns all the land that we live on and if you start digging holes you need permission even if you 'own' the land you live on.She owns all the dead whales that wash up because everything between high-tide and low tide belongs tom the queen,

Yes PC, it is an excellent photo. Views of the Seven Arches can be better at the time of year before there is heavy obscuring trees growth around.
