I thought there would be no new phone booths erected now with most people (but not me, yet!) having a mobile phone     Just a personal opinion. I do not think anyone should be without a mobile phone. I have two sisters in their mid 80's and it has taken some instilling over the last few years for them to have one & I feel so much better that we are in contact ICEThink about it, you are walking/driving somewhere and you become ill, who do you contact without a "mobile". The phone is not intrusive because when someone rings you their number & name comes up, you either answer it or ignore itAs you probably know I am all for " The Good Old Days" but this in my opinion is progression.Just my thoughts

Don't forget me when I am transported to Australia I might be on the same boat if I finally manage to view, save and post a map (looks like it will be on IE, not Google Chrome)!Perhaps the solution is to add "copyright OS/HMSO" when adding one of these images to SL.

This postcode discussion made me think to try a postcode to access a street site on the old-maps website. It works! It even gives you a choice of house numbers listed under that postcode to centre on.

Here's a pic that you lot should recognise after the research on this topic.Straight from the pages of the inevitable LEODIS, it shows the top of the by now unmistakeable Anderson Mount and the adjoining Kepler Council School. At some point in its history this was renamed as Roseville County Secondary.

Hope this appears OK.Thanks to J for procuring the shot from GSV2008. This is what was demolished to create a car park. And whose boundary wall was originally the reason for the weirdly designed redbrick house at the bottom of Anderson Mount. Here goes...

The highlander must be a real contender for the smallest public house.

If I have got my bearings correct The Highland seems to have got its shape from old boundaries/tracks. ??? 1850 & 1891 maps

Looks like it - never knew there was a well over the road. On the 1850 it shows a stream running from the well. Will check sewer records to see if that's still around.

Having looked closer I think it's a track.
