The YEP changed some of its general appearance on Jan 21st. On the top of the front page where it had stated of the YEP "At the heart of Leeds your city your paper" it now states (in capitals and bold print) "YOUR LEEDS, YOUR PAPER". As it clearly shows it is Leeds orientated I'm even more surprised that the YEP does not simply change its name. On the back page it states that it is "printed and published" at its new building on Whitehall Road.

The YEP owner seems to be suffering financial problems. For many years and up to last week the Saturday Prize Crossword comprised 1x£10 and 3x£5 prizes, but it is now 1X£10 and 1X£5. I guess the YEP needs the £10 a week it will save in prizes! There is though not just less chance to win a prize but an entry now requests an email address and daytime telephone number. It also wants to know some details about your Yorksire Post (YP) purchasing habits (I wonder if they mean the YEP, not the YP?). It is not stated if you must enter the details asked for in order to win a prize. It does however state "Usual YEP competition rules apply" but, if they are there, I cannot find those even in the YEP website. If it turns out that personal information has to be given to enter the prize draw then I shall stop doing that crossword.Edit added February 3 2013. The list of winners in the YEP of February 2nd for that competition had 1x£10 and 3x£5 (not 1X£5) prizes, so there was an error in the earlier YEP. How unusual!

Lets take that worldwide and it makes it even more unlikely,im not sur how someone born in the Arabian Peninsula on the same day and at the same time as myself will meet someone at work with personal issues that may lead to a long lasting relationship. Horoscope predictions (sun sign astrology) are generic enough to encompass a whole raft of situations, and if you add to that 'confirmation bias', anybody who really believes in that stuff can find a way to confirm their prediction.

The YEP has certainly made at least its cryptic crossword puzzle very easy so far this week as all 3 have been used recently! Somebody is being very lazy at the YEP.

Hi Phill. I noticed that there are many oldish news items still in the 'top stories'.

There is a major error in the YEP today (Feb 9 2013). The main story on the front page is about what the YEP refers to as a "police informer scandal" and that two "MPs speak out after YEP investigation". The report ends on the front page with "Leeds North East MP Fabian" and then states "Turn to page 4". Page 4 is however a full page of adverts so I thought the report would continue on another page but I cannot find a continuation. If it's there but I am just not seeing it I would be grateful if someone could tell me where it is in today's YEP.
