I have an idea it is North Street, approaching the Meanwood Road junction. Trumpet player with topper is Eddie Websdale. Edit:- Possible IDs for other musicians seen - sax, J. Lodge(?), bass drum - B. Wilde(?), Partly hidden trumpet - A. Higham(?).

Have a look at these two pictures from LEODIS, and especially the buildings on the left - and streetlight(?). I think there is some resemblance. Maybe....http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... It has the look of North Street, my first thought was Woodhouse Lane but there's no sign of the churches or Parkinson building so I'm going for North St.

I wonder if Mr Shapero at 170 and Mr Nevies at 161 - more or less just across the road from each other by the look of it - were 'friendly' rivals or fierce competitors.Nevies have continued, albeit under a different proprietor and at another location, obviously. No sign locally of the good Mr Shapero.

This is followed by Antique Galleries at numbers 166 to 168. The properties on this side of the road were demolished in the 1970s, and included number 118, near the junction with Skinner Lane to 184 near the Eagle Hotel at the junction with Benson Street"

I seem to recall there have been images, leodis, of the lower end when it was grotty. Seem to recall Millhouse Pine started off down that way.
