there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

The same pubs in 1937. The signage on the Vine read ' Ye Olde Wine Lodge - The Vine'It would seem that the Vine building (which to my untutored eye seems to have been altered or remodelled at some stage)) was originally a wine and spirit merchants (C.Parkes and co.)that opened a bar on their premises that developed into a pub. Thankfully the Vine has reopened after a period of being closed. The Three Legs meanwhile has superb terracotta glazed tiles - a magnificent frontage when you study it.

The Skyrack in Headingley - the name is a corruption of 'Shire Oak' apparently - after the Ancient Oak that stood nearby until the 1940s.

A classic Leeds pub over the years and the Skyrack's near-neighbour- The Original Oak in Headingley. For some reason what used to be the main entrance(i.e.the red doors) is now always locked and you have to enter via the left hand side next to where the bowling green once was.

The Regent in Chapel Allerton - always a great pub. The building evidently has an interesting history - looks like it was originally 2 separate houses.

The Mulberry on Hunslet Road. There must have been literally dozens of pubs within a short walk of this pub 40-50 years ago. the nearest pub now I think would be the Garden Gate about 10 mins walk away.I remember this pub in the 80s - often went here for a drink after work. the Landlord at the time was an ex Hunslet. R.L. player called Ernie Shackleton- a really nice bloke. The 'monogram' beneath the 'Mulberry Hotel' inscription says '1900' although it's not easy to make out.

Even though Iv'e slagged it off (and I'm allowed being an ex landlord) I give you, the Albion. It was originally two seperate premises, bot hshops back in the mid 1860's. Both began to sell bottled beer as out sales but one owner sold out to the other and it was knocked through and in the late 1860's becam the Pub we know today. You can still see one of the original corner entrances to the pub on the "upper" wall of Armley road side of the pub. Albion oldAlbion new
