I think Al fired me soon after you joined and I started playing with the White Eagles shortly after. Hi jazzbob. Were you still playing with the White Eagles when they were the resident band in the upstairs room of the Royal Park during the summer and autumn of 1977?Heady days. And fantastic nights!

Hi Salt and PepperNo, that was way after my time. I finished playing with Boland in '66 and then went to London. When I returned, me and Dave Lewis got some guys together and started the Cherry Tree band. The White Eagles line up when I was with them was Martin( clarinet) ,John James ( trumpet) ,Dave Lewis (trombone), Brian Goldsboro (banjo) Alf Kiernan (piano ) Dick Wright (bass) and me on drums. I left England in '73 and for the immediate years before that, I'm afraid I became a bit mercenary and went for the money. Jazz didn't pay all that well in those days, I don't know what it's like now. I played for a while at a restaurant at Roundhay Park with the singer Terry Johnson. He sang standards, Sinatra and Tony Bennet stuff then with his brother Jeff Johnson who was more into pop and rock and roll. Then freelanced with anybody. Nice talking to you. Bob

Hi Salt 'n Pepper and Bob.Great to hear all these old pals being remembered. Tonight, I shall be playing with Dave Lewis and Alf Kiernon at Cullingworth Conservative Club . . . you all give me something to talk about in the interval.I can confirm that jazz still doesn't pay much. It mainly just about covers the expenses but, what the hell, it's the taking party that counts - look at ol' Ed. It needs levening with a few 'commercial' gigs.I did a bit of work with Terry Johnson. Sadly, a lot of these guys have now left us. It must be a helluva band up there. I can wait, though. Cheers. Tony

Here's another picture of the Al Crosland band at the Tramsheds circa 1961 playing interval to Ed O'Donnel. Great shot of John Beecroft in the foreground. Sorry I forgot your name in my post on page 2 John!

Hopefully he may remember me. Is one of these you?1960's Student Rag Week, E.D. O'Donnell Band, but where?

Fantastic photos Jogon, but no, a bit early for me. I think Homer and Bert and myself marched in the '61 for the first time. I see my mate Dick Wright blowing the tuba and Wyatt (mick hill) in the foreground on both photos, Ed's long time bass player and what a bass player. I had the pleasure of playing with him many times. Nobody could swing like him. I recognise both trumpeters and the clarinet I think is Dave Daley, may be wrong. Could the trumpeter on the right be Denis Armstrong. Bob
